College

Hm, well, in about September I shall be entering college. I've been accepted into San Diego State University, CSU Fullerton, CSU Long Beach, and California Polytechnics University (my number one choice). I have yet to hear from UC Santa Barbara.

So! Wondering if anyone who's been to college and such would like to share advice and/or stories. Those who have not gone to college can share anything they want as well.

ok, studying...your style needs to evolve ASAP. the way shit works at this level is MUCH different from any high school. You need atleast 20 hours a week study time. and i suggest quite areas or with soft music. its best for retaining...and repeating shit over and over is good. Also, makign questions about your subject matter one day and then going back to answer them another day helps it all stay in your head. its a very good test/quiz prep technique. ill think of more but im studying atm and need to get the fuck off here lol XDD

SAVE MONEY!! As someone who had a job and lost it you need to be careful with your spending!! Depending on the kind of school you go to it might help if you fill in as classes in a day as you can. I go to school on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the whole day, the rest of the week I filled in for things like more hours for work, doctor appointments, Buddhist meetings, etc. These also give you all the free time you can need.

Well, as for the money I'm getting heaps of scholarships and government assistance and such.

And this is something I've been thinking about; my major is math and I want to become a teacher.

I haven't quite decided if I want to earn a bachelor's and then a master's, or get a bachelor's and commit for a doctorate.

Well most useful advice has already been covered but heres some from my short experience with college. Make your travel plans ahead of time between home and college if your not gonna live out of the dorm. Theres nothing worse than getting up at 6 am to be out by 7 and have to take two buses to be there by 8 then stay in till 4 pm. And as Yuki said naps help a lot! But make sure your getting a good nights sleep aswel otherwise naps will turn into full sleeps if you have no energy in you at all and only slept a sparse couple of hours. And if you get lost on your way to a lecture just ask someone nearby. I used to get lost even after a month of being in my old college. And be prepared for no holds barred treatment with the workload. As Heaven pointed out the stuff you will be doing is on a whole other level to highschool. You miss something then you better hope someone in the class will give it to you cuz otherwise your on your own. Thats pretty much it from me. But its not all bad there's a lot of good stuff about college to. Just take things one day at a time and remember to breath and enjoy it to.

Only as complicated as you let it be. in a way its easer cuz now you have your priorities pretty much on your back at all times.

That's true. Besides, I'd probably want to do it later if I only got a Master's, and at that point I'll be far too busy with life.
