Pornography

Well, when I was in another forum, this discussion brought up some serious buzz. Although, the only difference is that in the other forum, I added the option of polling in, "watch it," but I figured that might be reputationally damaging if it were actually there. XD But yeah, there was some intense and good discussing when I brought this up in that forum a while ago.

So, that's an extremely prolific subject that has pervaded most, if not all of human life, and the internet. What is all our opinions on it? Good? Bad? Why? Why not? Ethics of it? Necessity? Should it be illegal? (pseudo-prostitution)

I think it's bad, but at the same time I don't think it should be illegal.

Everything has its place and everything has its uses.

Well I should explain, I have a belief that goes like this. Nothing is bad if used in moderation or used for the right reason an example this person is a sex addict but to curb there addiction and self destructive act of fucking anything that moves they watch porn.

Ahh, I see. Yeah, that makes sense. Stuff like stealing or murder is never good in moderation, hence there needing to be a good reason for something 'bad' to be considered to an extent 'good' or at least 'not bad.'

I read an article once that reported that a lot of people watch porn, even married couples, and to my surprise, a lot of them were, for lack of a better term, alright/content with it, both the watcher, and the spouse of.

Porn isn't a bad thing in retrospect people like to argue that its degrading to women and while its true some of it is as a whole I see no problem with it, People gotta make a living somehow.

That's true, and that's something I've contested to others as well: as repulsive or impossible it is for some people, others have the complete capacity to bring themselves to do that for their occupation. And, of course, loads ought have fun with it.

And from other articles I've read, spouses and significant others of these actors/actresses are mostly not in any rejection to their lifestyle/occupation whatsoever, sometimes even lavishing in the "perks" of the biz.

I can only imagine what those "Perks" are.

That's true, which leads me back to another point I raised in the beginning; it parallels almost to prostitution, which is illegal, yet it's completely and absolutely legal.

An argument therein, I suppose, is that there's a difference between paying for sex as a favor, or paying for sex as an enterprise.

Its there that the lines begin to blur.

That's why I think it's very interesting. Why exactly do we look a the line differently when we think of it in different contexts like that?

Because as humans we are simple minded and can easily be persuaded something is bad.

Well, if it's as easily done to persuade and lobby that pornography shouldn't be illegal, why can't it be as easy for such for prostitution?

I honestly have no answer for that one

And obviously because of the similarity, who's to say that people aren't turning some instances or practices of prostitution into pornography, and vice-verse?
